We owe a big apology to bears. We have taken away their habitat, hunted them for their fur, meat and (I’m not kidding) their penises (said by some to be aphrodisiacs when dried and ground up). We have mocked them with cartoon facsimiles like Yogi and Boo Boo, and created wussy stereotypes like Winnie the Pooh and the Care Bears. They have a lot of good reasons to hate us.
